Over the last few years the word entrepreneur has been used and miss-used in an unprecedented fashion and more and more individuals and organisations trying to use that current fashion to make a load of money without delivering any value. This causes more and more people to be frustrated, because it doesn’t seem to work for them.
A recent research study by one of the top 500 companies has shown, that the most wanted trades in todays business world are:
- Cultural Awareness
A successful individual has to be:
- Personal (individual)
A world-wide study undertaken by the Gallup Research Organisation during 2013 has shown that the most important reasons for becoming an entrepreneur are the search for meaning, happiness and worthiness.
Money is a far less important reason for becoming an entrepreneur, but most schools or training facilities concentrate only on that.
Meaning, happiness and worthiness are not subjects at schools anywhere in the world (maybe beside Finland).
Schools, including business schools or so called Accelerators or Incubators, concentrate purely on the technical aspect of being an entrepreneur. Its mainly about the science, math and technology. Things like Business Model Canvas, Sales Technics, Finance, as important as they might be, are only a tiny part of what makes a successful entrepreneur.
Lets not forget that most people wanting to become an entrepreneur are doing so because the current system does not work for them. They are unhappy with their situation and are looking for a way out. And of course, making lots of money seems to be a great reason to be different.
Lets face it, most of the current teaching and training methods don’t work. Only a tiny percentage ever make it as an entrepreneur in the long-term.
But why is this?
I believe it is very difficult to teach these subjects with conventional teaching methods, which are based on conformity. But as individuals we are everything but conform and that is exactly what most of us are trying to escape from. Why else would we want to become an entrepreneur?
As much as we are individuals we are also part of a social group and beside dealing with ourselves we deal everyday with many other people. In the end entrepreneurship is about the art of dealing with people (including ourselves) in all its facets.
I believe that we need something else. We need to allow each student to discover what makes them tick, what excites them and where their talents lie. And this needs to be on an individual bases. At the same time we need to provide the training, support and motivation to build working connections to others. In its essence it is about people. It is about taking charge of our part in society and to understand our important role in it all. This is what gives us the feeling of worthiness. This is what gives us meaning and makes us happy.
This is why the Entrepreneur Academy puts its focus on creating a lasting positive change in our world. We educate and train creative entrepreneurial spirits that challenge students of all ages to design their own education and projects.
We support each student individually to find their talents and learn the skills to improve on them. We empower our students to work together in groups, to explore their position within the group and to use their talents to bring the group forward. We will take our students on a journey of discovery and understanding and prepare them to become real positive changemakers.
During these three month or one year courses our students will discover their talents, wherever they lay and will meet many social entrepreneurs. They will have many opportunities to take part in, or create their own, real life-changing projects. It is all about the individual, her position in society and how to use her talents and skills to make a real positive change to anyone around her and the world.
If you would like to take part as a student or teacher, just send us a message and we will set-up a meeting to discuss it all in detail. Beside that, I will also organise open meetings on a regular basis. There you will have the chance to ask all your questions and to meet the team (tba).
I wish you all an amazing and fulfilling future
